Cooke and Dowsett was founded in 1992 by Scott Dowsett who restructured the business in 2008 bringing in Chadd Cooke as part owner and director.
Together, Scott and Chadd have more than 40 years combined plumbing expertise and industry knowledge which they have used to build a business specialising in commercial plumbing, design and construction, project management and other plumbing services. Their client list now includes many ‘tier-one’ contractors throughout Australia while they maintain close and long term relationships with their original mid-tier contractor clients.
Consistency and Commitment
Since the inception Cooke and Dowsett, the business has been involved and completed numerous prestigious and innovative projects both on the East and West Coast of Australia. Their portfolio includes major hospitals, apartment complexes, mine camps, shopping centres, major hotels, prisons, desalination plants and commercial developments. Building on their dedication to the delivery of quality plumbing services, they have expanded the business to have a footprint in most Australian states.
The business now also covers water systems, drainage systems, gas services, fire services and civil drainage with the priority being on finding a total solution to their clients’ plumbing requirements.

A Commitment To Delivering The Highest Standard
Morrows recently interviewed Chadd and asked about the business’s vision. He said, “The business strives to be the future and strength of the plumbing industry. In a work sense, this involves continually looking for an innovative edge over our competitors and being at the forefront of the industry to capitalise on opportunities that arise.”
Recognition of Cooke and Dowsett’s effort and consistent behaviour was recently received through two awards – the BRW Momentum Mid-Market Acknowledgement Award and the industry’s “Commercial Plumber of the Year Award”.

He also noted that strategic management is an essential element to the process, and the partnership of Cooke and Dowsett with Morrows Group has played a pivotal role in achieving its vision.
Partnering with Morrows to achieve business goals
“We attribute much of our business success to maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders including key clients, suppliers and employees. Scott and I pride ourselves on seeking appropriate professional advice when necessary in fields of legal, taxation, company compliance and business advisory,” Chadd said.
The Morrows team, led by John Rogers, has worked closely with Cooke and Dowsett providing professional advice to ensure the business model is optimised and operated efficiently.
“John’s past experience in the construction industry and in particular in large commercial plumbing was invaluable,” Chadd said.
This work and collaboration with John and Morrows has covered a broad range of services to the Cooke and Dowsett Group and to its Directors and Shareholders including:
- Acquisition advice for Chadd in 2008 when Cooke and Dowsett Pty Ltd was established – providing support for the setup of the business and establishing a tax effective corporate structure
- Acquisition and structuring advice on other business transactions
- Business Advisory Services working closely with the senior management team
- Ongoing Accounting and Taxation Services – covering the compliance requirements, tax advice and planning strategies of the Group and the associated owners’ families
- Financial Planning advice in respect of the owners’ superannuation assets
Morrows team members, John Rogers and Paul Tucker, are looking forward to continuing to work with Cooke and Dowsett to drive the business forward as it creates innovative solutions for clients and leads the future of plumbing.
Giving Back To The Community
An equally important part of the Cooke and Dowsett culture involves its participation in the Indigenous Apprentices Program initiated in 2004 by the Plumbing Union. Cooke and Dowsett became involved with the program in 2010 when NUDJ Plumbing Services, a not for profit company was established to continue its activities. NUDJ aims to empower Aboriginal youth in the Kimberley/Pilbara regions through training in pluming trades and for this to be utilised back in their local communities.
In 2013, Cooke and Dowsett were recognised for its role in NUDJj’s training of the first indigenous female plumber in Australia.
“NUDJ Plumbing is very close to our hearts. Scott and I are both passionate about it and proud to give back to these communities,” said Chadd
