The Order of Australia is a means by which Australia recognises the outstanding service of its people to our country. The Order of Australia was established in 1975 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and is designed to define, encourage and reinforce Australian goals and values.
It is with great pleasure that we congratulate Adele Ferguson, who was awarded the Order of Australia in recognition for, “her significant service to the print and broadcast media as a journalist and business commentator.” This has been in response to her investigations exposing the fraudulent and unethical behaviour in the financial and aged care industries that brought about the Royal Commission into the sectors.
Throughout her career, Adele Ferguson has been a multi-award-winning senior business writer and columnist for leading media titles including The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald. In recent years, her outstanding contribution to journalism has been unprecedented. She has conducted groundbreaking investigations into the 7-Eleven wage fraud scandal and also other company embezzlements including Domino’s and Caltex.
Her work has helped bring about positive changes for society which is truly extraordinary and we look forward to seeing what she will achieve next.
