The team at Morrows were grateful to have our long-term, valued client Brendan Condon attend our team meeting a few weeks ago. Brendan provided an exciting presentation about some of the recent projects he and his team are working on.
Brendan and his team have a passion on innovation and environmental sustainability. The topics covered during the presentation were:
- Solving climate change;
- Clean energy;
- Transforming cities into water catchments and urban farms;
- Restoration of ecosystems; and
- How rapid improvements in sustainability are beating conventional practice.
As the CEO of Australian Ecosystems, considered the market leader in building sustainable landscapes, Brendan has over 25 years of experience in ecological restoration projects. The Morrows team were amazed to hear that Brendan has overseen the planting of over 30 million plants across the Greater Melbourne region and Victoria.
Brendan also partners with Marc Noyce, CEO of Biofilta, to provide innovative environmental engineering solutions. Biofilta has recently developed a modular, wicking vertical garden system known as the ‘Foodwall’ with focus on saving time, saving water and money. This system also opens up significant opportunity for urban food production.
A number of Morrows team members were enthusiastic about investing in a ‘Foodwall’ for their own gardens. It is also thrilling to see the Biofilta ‘Foodwall’ popping up at a number of schools across Melbourne which supports students education on the environment.
We were eager to gain a deeper understanding of Brendan’s Cape Housing Project, with Stage 2 of the development recently being launched. The Cape is the first truly sustainable residential estate in Australia.
The vision:
‘To create a benchmark for sustainable living in a location unlike any other. “The Cape” at Cape Paterson brings together the expertise of local building and sustainability experts, to create a modern community that is at one with the environment’
