Recently we sat down with Maureen Allan, Specialist Superannuation Advisor, to find out what brought her to Morrows and where her career passions lie.
What brought you to Morrows, and what were you first impressions?
I first saw Murray Wyatt present at a CPA conference in late 1990’s. I was impressed with his extensive knowledge and passion for superannuation. Without a job being advertised, I used my initiative and applied for a job at Morrows.
What would you consider to be your proudest moment in your career?
One of my proudest career moments would be achieving manager status at a Big Four firm.
What else are you looking forward to achieving in your career?
I am looking forward to specialising in what I consider to be the final step in retirement planning – that is specialising in helping people understand the complex intricacies of managing elderly parents’ home care.
What do you enjoy about your work?
I enjoy my superannuation team and the people working in other departments within Morrows. I especially enjoy the continual challenges that the job offers.
If you weren’t working in superannuation, what would you do for work instead?
I would be babysitting my grandchildren – they are between the ages of one month to 4 years (with one still ‘baking’).
What is your greatest strength?
I am persistent until the job gets done. I credit my parents for instilling my work ethic in me.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy looking after my grandchildren. We love exploring the op shops and they are allowed to choose one item to purchase. Unfortunately, I pick all the board games and spend the rest of the day trying to teach them how to play them. Our favourite games are Kerplunk, Concentration, Snap and Bingo.
